The Falcon front sway bar kit is a great step to getting your early model Falcon to handle.  Sway bars help to control body roll and keep the front of the car level through a turn by tying the suspension together side-to-side. This assembly is available in a 1 1/8″ bar diameter to reduce the amount of roll and increase the responsiveness of your front suspension. Our MOD Lower Control Arm and Strut Rod Assembly for Falcon are designed to replace the flimsy originals while improving overall strength, reducing weight, and improving handling.

We’ve engineered these to replace the non-adjustable stock components while making several improvements along the way. First, let’s talk about alignment. We’ve replaced the chassis mounting point with a threaded heim joint, enabling easy tweaking of both your camber and track width. Our replacement strut rod allows for quick adjustments to caster. This combo gives you a ton of flexibility in the handling of your ride, which will ultimately contribute to front end stability, feel, and confidence at all speeds.

As you may know, the stock parts were originally designed to be completely replaced when the ball joint failed. Our replacements made serviceability top of mind, so we use quality, screw in ball joints that you’ll be able to find at most parts stores should you need a quick replacement. We use heim joints over rubber or polyurethane for their quality and durability. We top it all off with quality powder coating to ensure a long lasting shine.

By combining MMI’s years of Mustang experience we have been able to design and manufacture a system for the Falcon that will perform on the street and track without the harshness of a typical coilover setup. Using our unique upper A-frame design and a custom-tuned JRi shock, we created the best possible front suspension system that doesn’t require any welding or extensive modifications to your car.

In our years of racing and testing our products on the track, we’ve learned quite a few things about building a suspension that handles well, but doesn’t break your back (or wallet). In essence, our understanding boils down to four key elements:

Geometry

Suspension geometry can make or break a suspension design. We’d encourage you to watch our video in the gallery above, but to put it simply, our design allows for a 50% improvement in shock/spring-to-wheel motion ratio. This results in a more responsive and agile shock, while allowing us to run a softer spring. This combination offers race-like agility, with comfortable, daily-driver street manners.

Shock Quality

JRi shocks are simply put, the best in the game. The modern mono-tube design ensure responsiveness and comfort. This is one area where we encourage people to spend as much as they’re comfortable with – the return on investment is huge. This kit comes with your choice of three custom setups (noted below).

Pivot Points

A suspension is only as good as the freedom of movement that it has. If your suspension is binding, it’s not performing. That why we engineered our own MOD Shaft kit with custom Delrin bushing instead of the more typical bearings. Why? Because the upper control arm only moves a fraction of a complete 360 degrees, we’ve seen upper arms actually dig divots into the bearings. So we went with a broader, central bearing surrounded by bushing to minimize wear and maximize serviceability. Servicing it requires no press or special tools (see video in the gallery).

Ball Joints

A good ball joint is absolutely essential. That’s why we replaced the old press-in style with a modern screw in ball joint. This gives you a ton of flexibility in deciding the type of ball joint you’d like to run, and it makes replacing it as easy as a trip to the parts store.

Our upper arms also include a built in 4 degrees of caster and replacement alignment keys, allowing you to dial in the alignment of your classic Mustang while improving baseline feel and highway tracking.

Our Falcon MOD 1 Coilover Kit Includes:

Valving Options

The MOD1 STREET coilover package has a stripped down non-adjustable JRi shock. The valving in the shock is tailored toward a touring ride – responsive with a tight compliance to handle the bumps with control. This system best fits the person who wants to get in and drive. This shock package is completely upgradeable to a multi adjustable shock system in the future.

The MOD1 SPORT coilover assembly has a single-adjustable JRi shock which is set up to adjust rebound. The single adjustable shock allows us to be more aggressive. The valving allows the car to handle like a slot car for unsurpassed control while having the ability to back off the dampening quickly to get back a refined drive for the trip home from the track. This shock package is upgradeable to a double adjustable shock in the future.

The MOD1 RACE coilover assembly features a double adjustable JRi shock. This is the shock package used on Mike and Brianne’s Ol Blue 1966 Mustang. The double adjustable JRi shock system allows the driver to independently tune low speed rebound vs. high speed rebound. This lets us tune the small inputs of the steering wheel to get the response desired while tuning the larger bumps out of the equation. The double adjustable JRi shock package is the most advanced shock system you can buy to refine your Mustang to the level you demand.

The MOD Upper Control Arm was designed to replace the stock piece in your early Falcon while improving strength and serviceability, resulting in a more predictable and confidence-inspiring ride.

We’ve redesigned the upper control arm to greatly improve ride quality while including several features that benefit your alignment and suspension performance. First, we replaced the shaft with our MOD shaft assembly. This user-serviceable part is easy to use and can be quickly disassembled and reassembled without expensive presses or tools. The bearing we use allow for full range of motion up and down, adding to the comfort and performance of your car. We also set the shaft up to use swappable alignment keys, letting you easily dial in exactly where you want the shaft to sit without having to drill additional holes (as you would for the Shelby drop).

Second, we designed the arm to be asymmetrical, engineering more caster into the arm while still maintaining the original suspension layout. This helps the car track straight down the highway with confidence at any speed.

Third, we improved the shock and spring location mount points. By relocating the spring saddle mounts towards the ball joint, the spring and shock become more responsive without over springing and dampening your car.

Finally, we updated the ball joint to a screw in K772 style, giving you a bunch of options for aftermarket ball joint replacements, including ones easily found at your local parts store. A quality ball joint enhances steering feel and stability, improving performance and handling.

Enhancing the mechanical attributes of the stock suspension not only increases your confidence, but greatly improves the performance of your car. So whether you are looking for a true touring car or a corner carving beast, the MOD Upper Control arm will get you one step closer.
