Our chassis stiffening kit is designed to help improve the handling and consistency of your classic Falcon.

The original Falcons utilized a unibody construction. Rather than relying on full length frame rails as you might see under many other cars of the era, the Falcon relied on the floor pan and other body structures to connect frame rails located at the front and back of the car. Originally this reduced weight and cost, but time and questionable repairs often leave the Falcon with less than desirable chassis strength.

Chassis stiffness is important for two primary reasons:

  1. It improved torsional rigidity, aka the resistance to twisting. Keeping the car flat through corners or when under stress is essential for a repeatable feel and quicker times.
  2. It allows the suspension to do it’s job. If the car is twisting and bending (even over small bumps in the road) the chassis isn’t supporting the suspension, it becomes part of the suspension. Stiffening the chassis allows the suspension to work and do it’s job of handling the bumps.

This kit includes

  1. MOD Subframe connectors – designed to connect the front and rear frame rails, these solid connectors weld on in more than two locations, exponentially improving their effectiveness. They also serve as handy jacking points to prevent further damage to the frame rails.
  2. MOD X-Brace – Our X-Brace ties the subframe connectors together, further improving stiffness. We designed the X-brace to be removable for servicing of exhaust and other under car pieces.
  3. MOD Shock Tower Brace – The shock tower brace kit is simple in design yet very effective. Triangulating the shock towers to the firewall with rigid mounts give unsurpassed strength compared to other brands.

Adding this kit to your ride will greatly enhance the feel and handling reliability of the car, giving you a better platform to build from. We install this set on nearly every car we work on and consider it nearly essential when adding more power to a classic Falcon.

This Falcon X-brace has been designed to work in conjunction with the MMI Falcon full length subframe connectors. Tying the opposite four corners of the subframes with the X-brace helps to keep the Falcon flat and true during everything from daily driving to hard cornering. The X-brace come with four weld-on tabs designed for welding to the MMI subframe connectors, which provide bolt in lugs to allow the X brace to be removed for maintenance. Due to the small drive line tunnel, the x brace was bowed in the middle to accommodate up to 2.5” dual exhaust. If you want your Falcon to stand the test of time give it the support it wants and needs with the new MMI X-brace.

MMI has developed the best shock tower brace on the market for your old school Falcon. Featuring a one piece design for maximum strength. The MMI shock tower brace is intended to replace the original cowl braces with the new tubular design which massively frees up needed space in the engine bay. Especially around the master cylinder. This brace is hand made at MMI from scratch. Quality fabrication topped off with clean tig welds will finish of your engine bay with pride.

This modification does require you to cut out your old cowl bracing and re drill cowl holes for the mounting of this brace. For proper finish work some welding on the cowl seam is needed to clean up old spot weld locations with some grinding to clean things up before installation.

MMI has created a full length subframe connector for the Falcon sedans. These are among the most needy of chassis stiffening. Welding to the floor in four points from the rear frame rail all the way to the front torque box, the MMI subframe connectors are the best on the market. These are not simply copies of the connectors we offer for the Mustang, they are specifically designed to work with your Falcon and contour to the floors to maximize ground clearance.

Built to withstand the punishment of racing while maintaining road manners and improved handling on and off the track, the MOD subframe connectors will greatly enhance the ride and performance of your 60-65 Falcon.

Made from 2″ .120 wall round steel tubing, these 75″ connectors are longer than just about anything else available. Why? With subframe connectors, the goal is to grab as much chassis as possible to minimize flex and fatigue. These longer connectors weld to the body and frame in four locations, preventing them from pivoting on only two points. This significantly reduces the flex found in early unibody Falcons and stiffens the chassis overall, allowing the suspension to do the work.

These are only available as a weld in option. We have found that bolt in subframes pull at the thin metal underneath the car and aren’t nearly as effective as a true weld in solution. This also allows the subframe connectors to serve as future jacking points, preventing further damage to your frame rails or floor pan.
